restless attempts of creativity

my eyes have been failing me, i confess i skipped two days of picture-taking.
i was not about to stoop to the level of emo self-portrait.

one reason i am glad to be taking biology 101 in hawai'i is because i have unique opportunities to study hawaiian biodiversity!
okay, so to the local, it's just hanauma bay, tourist magnet, but still - when in a missouri-based class can i swim with the fishes in a preservation area?

i'm somewhat ashamed of this photo only because every other tourist has the same shot. maybe that's just my pride speaking.

my biggest material request from God is a nikon d80.
[although, i really should increase my faith boundaries and ask for a nikon d200... big sigh...]
as well as a hearty, yet simple set of nikkor lenses as i already have a quantaray 28-300mm wide-angle lens, i would really like a shorter convenient lens, say 18-55, and even a nikkor-branded telephoto lens (for auto-focus speed purposes) or even a sweet fisheye wide-angle lens. and... throw in a speedlight. and a 2-gig memory card.

the point is, i need $2000.
donations accepted.
i will photograph your kids.

i just want to capture what i see.
and... i know that doing this picture-a-day with a mere point-and-shoot is just foundational blocks, but hey, i'm just pitching out my long-term goal.
actually, this "long term" desire's been going on for years...

alas, we are asked to sit silently, as His wings envelop our senses -
they are like fabric, a tight weave of security, of hope, of eternity, smooth upon our skin, dancing like silk as the heavens exhale upon its surface; hear a mimic of a mighty thunderstorm with the decibles of white linen in the breeze. the aroma of purity intoxicates. and still we sit here silently.
for we cannot, in anxiety, arise from invisible ashes. let us rest here in this cocoon, this patience, waiting for a second glory...

embedding a variety

because... variety's what it's all about.

art, baseball, honour killings, and another kind of picture-a-day.

ps- i hate watching things about hawaii on the travel channel because.. yes.. it's tourism oriented and you'll always hear some synthetic sliding guitar in the background, yes the same instrument found in mainland-country music.
i just watched the travel channel's "Hawaii's top ten beaches," and when they got to lahaina, they featured a luau that was so downright tourist-laden, that i wanted to drown myself.
oh AND it aggravates me that almost every other shot of a woman is her ass. but that's besides the point (though a nice tangent it could be).

KEEP THE COUNTRY COUNTRY!!!!
and i'm referring to the DEFEND O'AHU COALITION.
they want to build hotels on the NORTH SHORE? WHAT ARE THEY DOING TO OUR ISLANDS!
already they've taken away sugar cane and pineapple plantations to increase housing and attractions, when both some tourist industries and management/development companies are MAINLAND-BASED and have no consideration for the locals OR the true preservation! AAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!
